Live brief Art students

Monday 28 November 2016

In October this year Graphics students from The Bedford Sixth Form took part in the Victoria & Albert Museum’s (V&A) annual Graphic Gathering project. This year the project was delivered in partnership with BBC Radio 1.

The brief was to design digital assets to promote the playlist ‘New Music Friday’ on Radio 1’s social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to be seen by potentially eight million people. The two-day project consisted of a group briefing, creative drop-in sessions and finally culminates in a student presentation evening to a panel of industry experts and other schools who participated.

The Creative drop-in sessions were held to support the live brief ‘New ways of working and exploring creativity and type’ which were led by professional artists and designers including; Studio HATO – Drawing and Image making; Amandine Alessandra – Creative Typography; Zoe Josephine- Illustration and Animation and Bethan Durie – Collage and Composition.

Nicola Mansell, Art & Design Course Manager at The Bedford Sixth Form, enthused: “We have participated in the Graphic Gathering previously and found it to be a great experience. This year was no exception with all the students thoroughly enjoying the event and gaining some great experience.”

The students will return to the V&A for a presentation evening on 20 January 2017.
