Mathematics A-Level

Further Maths

Qualification: AS/A-Level | Exam board: Edexcel

An A-Level in Maths will help develop your understanding of mathematics and mathematical processes in a way that promotes confidence and fosters enjoyment to develop abilities to reason logically.

This course will allow you to see how different areas of mathematics are connected, recognise how a situation may be represented mathematically, and understand the relationship between ‘real world’ problems. You will enhance your problem solving skills, learn mathematical techniques and use them in solving these ‘real world’ problems.

A-Level Mathematics can lead to a rewarding career in finance, engineering, economics or a wide range of other industries.

Additional information

What does this course prepare me for?

A-Level Mathematics is an excellent qualification for continuing the study of mathematics at university, and can lead to a rewarding career in finance, engineering, economics or a wide range of other industries.

Course support and enrichment

Bridging units are in place at the start of the course to support the smooth transition from GCSE to A-Level Mathematics.

You are encouraged to support each other by working in small groups and also have access to extra support if needed.

Assessment

The AS course is assessed by two exams at the end of the year and the A-Level course is assessed by three exams at the end of the two years.

The results of each exam are then amalgamated to give an overall result in either AS or A-Level Mathematics. Both courses encourage independent learning, time management, working in small groups providing support for each other and, of course, a deep love of the subject.
