Whether you are starting a course with us this September or you are a returning student; you can find all the information you need here to prepare you for the start of term and to help you enrol on to your course.

If you are a new student, due to start your course with The Bedford Sixth Form this September you will need to enrol onto your course. The guides below will tell you how to enrol and give you information about starting your course and items you need to bring with you. Click on the link below to open the guide.

MY COURSE?
Online enrolment takes place week commencing Monday 3 August 2020.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Photo or Scan of Proof of ID
This should be one of the following:
- UK/EU passport or ID card
- A full birth certificate
- Driver’s licence
- Non-EU passport
- National Insurance Card/Letter
- Debit/Credit card

Picture of your choice following the criteria below (this picture will become your ID card) – You can use your current ID picture but if you want to change it:
- Passport photo size, jpg format and 5mb maximum
- On a plain background
- You are facing forward and looking straight at the camera
- Your eyes open, visible, and free from reflection or glare from glasses (no sunglasses)
- In colour
- A true likeness
- A recent photo
- Does not contain other objects or people
- No hats or caps (unless it is for religious or medical reasons)
- No sticking out tongue and/or pulling faces

WHERE DO I GO TO ENROL?

To view your Enrolment link:
1 Log into your portal here or go to the website and click ‘Applied? Log in’
2 Go into the Application tab
3 Open your Enrolment Letter
4 Click on the Respond button on the top right hand corner.
5 Complete the pre-enrolment form answering any incomplete questions as you go through the form. You can amend any of your details as you go through the form.
6 Go to https://gateway.bedford.ac.uk and log into your Bedford College Group student account.
7 Sign in
Log in using the college email address and college password. If you choose ‘Yes’ on the above screen, you will not be asked to login again on the device you are using. You must remember the password you have chosen as you will use this to access the computers at College.
8 Sign into ProPortal
a.You will then be taken to the ProPortal homepage
b.Select ‘Leaner ILP’ and ‘Upload Documents’
c.To upload your photo and documents, choose Upload Documents from the Learner ILP option on the menu Upload a document by selecting ‘Add New’ and pick the relevant document you need to upload from the list below
Choose File’ on most mobile or tablet devices will then give you the option of taking a photo and uploading. Alternatively choose an existing file from your device or computer. Give the document an appropriate name, and ensure you select the document ‘Type’ from the dropdown. When you have chosen the ‘Save’ option, repeat for other evidence documents as required.
9 Final Step
From the Learner ILP option again on the menu choose ‘Confirm your 2020 Enrolment.’ Select ‘I agree and save’ and you have now completed this step

STAGE 1: GCSE RESULTS DAY

Good Luck with your results, we hope it has gone well.

STAGE 2: YOU WILL SOON BE A STUDENT
The College will be busy preparing your enrolment, grouping your class timetable and printing your ID card (with the photo you uploaded) and posting out your parking permit if applicable (please be sure to let us know on your application portal that you would like a permit).

STAGE 3: GET READY TO START
Your countdown starts now.
- The College will send you your instructions on when your programme of study will start w/c 7 September 
- We will include all of our safety measures
- We will include your meeting point and the time you need to arrive
- We will include who you need to speak to if you have any questions

DO I HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING WHEN I ENROL?
If you are aged 16 to 18 at the start of your course you do not have to pay any tuition fees.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT?
The Bedford College Group offers a range of financial support through our 16–19 bursaries to help young people where household income is £30,000 or less. Students must be aged 16-18 on 31 August 2020 or aged 19 and on the second year of a two year course.

We have five bursary schemes:
- Travel Bursary
- Vulnerable Learner Bursary
- Meals Bursary
- Course Cost Bursary

Q: When will I get my Student ID card for the Sixth Form?
A: Your Student ID card will be printed and given to you on your first day by your teachers using the photo ID you upload during online enrolment. 

Id cards are not quite ready yet. As soon as they are they will be given to you by your teachers at the Sixth Form.

Q: I’ve changed my mind about the subjects I want to study. What do I do?
A: Please either phone the Sixth Form office on 01234 291291 or email info@bedfordsixthform.ac.uk and we will try to help you as soon as we are able to. Please note that our offices are only open Monday to Friday so if please attend on Monday using your planned timetable and we will be able to support you in person.

You need to speak to us. Come in on Monday morning and head to the Nave (in the church building) where we will discuss your options.

Q: I haven’t received an email with my instructions. What do I need to do?
A: We have sent emails to all registered email accounts that were added in your application. Please check your Junk email folders and if you still have trouble come in on Monday morning and head to the Nave (in the church building) where we will discuss your options.

Q: I can’t access my Student Account because I have forgotten my username or password
A: Please email radiushelp@bedford.ac.uk and we will be able to help with this.

Q: When will I get my timetables for The Bedford Sixth Form?
A: Timetables have been sent via email to your registered account that you used to apply for your course. Please look through the document and find your Student ID reference and this will advise on the subject you are studying and when you need to turn up to class. On Monday, there will be staff available to help you with timetables if you are still unsure.

Q: I don’t know how to enrol
A: You should have received instructions on how to enrol by email but you can also find out more by visiting https://www.bedfordsixthform.ac.uk/student-support/student-enrolment. On this page you will find a downloadable guide that takes you through enrolment step by step. If you are still having difficulty enrolling please contact us on 01234 291291.

Q: I am struggling to enrol
A: Once you have logged in to your Portal here you will be able to open your Enrolment letter and click ‘Respond’ to complete the questions. When this is done visit https://gateway.bedford.ac.uk and follow the steps. Once you have completed this you will be taken to the ProPortal page where you can upload you photograph and documents. If you are still having trouble please contact radiushelp@bedford.ac.uk.

Q: What time should I arrive and where do I go?
A: Please check the timetable that you have been sent by email to see what time to arrive – most morning sessions start between 9.00am and 9:30am. On your first day make your way to the student entrance and staff will be there to greet you. If you haven’t received your timetable please come to the Nave on Monday (in the church building) and there will be staff available to help you.

Q: What is Enrolment?
A: Enrolment is an important and compulsory part of becoming a registered student at the sixth form. An online enrolment process has been established which will allow the sixth form to remotely enrol all of our students. When we enrol you on to your study programme, your qualifications will be checked and you will be issues with your sixth form ID card. Enrolment is now underway and we will contact you to tell you when and how to enrol online.

Q: What will I need to enrol online?
A: In order to enrol, you will need the following:

  • Photos or scans of qualifications or certificates
  • A relevant form of ID – this should be one of the following:

-          UK/EU passport or ID card

-          A full birth certificate

-          Driver’s license

Q: How long does it take to enrol?
A: Please allow up to an hour to complete your enrolment.

Q: Where do I upload my GCSE results?

Q: What do I do if I am having an issue with the enrolment steps?

Q: I can’t access my ProPortal account, what should I do?
A: If you’re unable to access your ProPortal account to complete enrolment, please contact our Customer Contact Team via the Live Chat on our website or email info@bedfordsixthform.ac.uk and they will be able to help you with this.

Q: What if I don’t get the GCSE grades I need or I achieve better than I expected?
A: Don’t worry if you don’t get the results you had hoped for, or you achieve better grades than you expected. All of our offers are based on predicted grades and our Customer Contact Team and Course Teams will be happy to give you information and advice about what you can do next.

Q: What if I want to study a different subject or change my application?
A: It’s no problem at all! Just contact our Customer Contact Team via Live Chat on our website or email info@bedfordsixthform.ac.uk and we’ll be able to help.

Q: What happens after enrolment?
A: The sixth form will be busy preparing your enrolment, grouping your class timetable and printing your ID card with the photo you uploaded.

Q: When will I receive my timetable?
