Sam sweeps ahead

The Bedford Sixth Form has world class students among its ranks. Bedford Star Rowing Club sweep rower, Sam D’Arcy is looking forward to an exciting summer on the water in 2020.

As a cox in earlier seasons, he competed in World, British Masters and Henley rowing championships. Now he is rowing towards other successes.

Combining training six days a week, with a weekend job at The Pantry Bedford and A Level studies in History, Statistics and Film Studies AS Level, 17 year old Sam’s schedule is pretty demanding but be his encouraged by this enterprising and sporting family. His Dad runs D’Arcy’s barbers on Bromham Road, his mum has her own Bedford Academy of Dance, and brother Thomas has trials for England in hockey.

Sam has his sights on another famous rowing centre - Oxford as his choice of University. He has an offer already from Oxford Brookes.

The former Mark Rutherford school pupil, enjoys the busy atmosphere of The Bedford Sixth Form to which he sometimes cycles from his home in Bedford, and other times comes in on public transport.

“It is all fairly full on but I am enjoying my time here at The Bedford Sixth Form,” said Sam.
