Students had the opportunity to hear Mike read an excerpt from his book and to take part in a question and answer session. Mike discussed his career as a writer and gave the students tips on writing and other advice about a career in this industry. He also very generously donated some books to the Learning Resource Centre.

Mike has been writing since he was a child, entertaining his younger brother by creating stories for him. Following a 15 year career as a teacher he began to write for comics which he continues to do - working on series such as X-Men: Legacy and the Ultimate Fantastic Four alongside Scot Eaton the comic book artist.

Laurel Swinscoe, teacher of Drama and English, commented: “It was a real privilege to welcome Mike to the Sixth Form. He gave the students lots of great advice and it was so useful for them to hear from a novelist with such vast experience. We are really grateful to him for taking the time to visit.”
