What is The Bedford Sixth Form?
The Bedford Sixth Form is Bedford College’s brand new place for sixth form learning.

Where is The Bedford Sixth Form?
The Bedford Sixth Form is located on the former Bedford High School site on Bromham Road in the centre of Bedford, close to the bus station and just a short walk from the train station.

Why is the College’s sixth form offering changing?
The College believes that students in Bedford will benefit from a dedicated sixth form, offering a special and separate environment to the College that will allow us to focus even more strongly on academic achievement for those who want to go on to top universities.

What is different about The Bedford Sixth Form?
The new Sixth Form benefits from fantastic facilities and unique study spaces, including an indoor swimming pool and the latest technology all contained in our stunning period campus.

The culture and focus of The Bedford Sixth Form also stands out – with strong student involvement, including a student-led programme of enrichment activities, plus a core focus on achieving high academic success that will help to secure your son or daughter’s place at university.

What courses are on offer?
The Bedford Sixth Form’s course offering includes A-Levels, BTEC Diplomas, Cambridge Technicals and GCSEs.

How will my son or daughter get to The Bedford Sixth Form?
Regular bus services are close by, as well as frequent train services just a 10 minute walk from The Bedford Sixth Form, all covering Bedford town and the wider local area. If your child lives three or more miles away from the Sixth Form they may be entitled to our Travel Bursary which gives them £450 a year towards their transport costs!

How will you keep my son or daughter safe?
We take the wellbeing and safety of every single student very seriously. We strive to ensure a safe and welcoming environment at The Bedford Sixth Form, and have safeguarding and anti-bullying policies in place to ensure that your son or daughter can study with us in a safe and secure environment. My son or daughter will be taking their driving test in Year 13 – will they be able to park their car?
No – unfortunately The Bedford Sixth Form does not offer parking for our students, although there are many alternative ways to travel to the campus.

Will my son or daughter have to pay any costs for studying at The Bedford Sixth Form?
If your son or daughter is aged 16-18 our courses are free for them to study. They may have to buy course equipment such as specialist equipment, clothing or books, but if your son or daughter is facing a financial hardship we offer financial support including a number of bursaries to help with the costs of study.

All of my son or daughter’s friends may stay at school for sixth form study – how will they make new friends if they come to The Bedford Sixth Form?
Many of our students have taken the choice to leave their existing school to join The Bedford Sixth Form, so your son or daughter will be able to meet fellow students in the same position. Plus our positive approach to student involvement, with great enrichment activities will also ensure your son or daughter meets and gets to work with a wide range of fellow students.
